Rev. Althea P. Baines is a dynamic woman of God who possesses a steadfast commitment to the divine providence and mission of the church. She is known to have a profound love for the Lord and stylish sense of fashion.
Rev. Baines is an ordained minister of the gospel and currently serves as Senior Pastor and Co-founder of the New Beginning Church of God in Buffalo, NY. This community of faith has evolved from a small North Buffalo mission into a flourishing church offering a “safe haven” to those in need through care-giving resources, that meet the emotional and spiritual needs of members and the community.
Rev. Baines is a long-time Buffalo native. As an advocate of education, Rev. Baines has worked for the Buffalo Board of Education as a Speech-Language Pathologist for more than 30 years. A graduate of Ithaca College, she received her Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology, followed by her Master’s of Science in Deaf Education from Canisius College. Driven by her faithfulness to achieve excellence in ministry Rev. Baines completed the Church of God Chaplaincy Program in 2008 and continues to toil toward her Doctoral Degree in Theology.
Rev. Baines and husband of 35 years, Chaplain Tommy E. Baines have an undying passion for changing the lives of young people. As foster parents for many children with special needs, the Baines family has been blessed with the ability to share their home with many who now refer to the Baines as their family. Rev. Baines despite the demands of her profession and pastoral call, she is the proud mother of three children Kourtney, Kristen, and Thomas. However, over the years she has earned the love and respect of many who claim their right as her spiritual children in the church and in the classroom.
She is a visionary leader with a keen focus on counseling, educating and encouraging members toward divine excellence. Her teachings help to expand biblical knowledge and offer a sophisticated and practical interpretation of the word of God
Rev. Baines’ tasks are many and her walk with Christ is daily. Fueled by the desire to obey the call on her life by bringing Glory and Honor to God, Rev. Baines is a true warrior of the Gospel .
